8. Gift Giving
This is a tricky subject. According to a professional code of ethics, instructors are not supposed to accept any gifts. However, if you're inclined to give your instructor a gift, it probably will be acceptable as long as it is not elaborate. Cards are acceptable, if you're not inclined to give a gift. Keep in mind that those gifts should be free and clear of any strings, expectations, obligations, liabilities, promises, or responsibilities by either party.
